Mount Albert is an interior suburb of Auckland Central, New Zealand, based on Mount Albert, a local volcanic peak that dominates the area. The suburb is situated seven kilometres southwest of the Auckland Central Business District (CBD).
Unitec Institute of Technology, the largest technology institute in Auckland, is situated in the north of the suburb. The Mount Albert Research Centre hosts the Auckland Centre for Plant & Food Research and other Crown Research Institutes. Fowlds Park is situated in the north of Mt Albert.
At the 2018 New Zealand census, Mount Albert had a population of 15,204 with 4,866 households.
Local Schools
Primary schools include Mount Albert School, Marist Primary, Owairaka Primary and Gladstone Primary School, one of the largest in New Zealand.
Local secondary schools are the Marist College and the renowned Mount Albert Grammar School, which has been part of the city since 1922.
