Meadowbank is a suburb of the city of Auckland, located on the north island of New Zealand. The suburb has one shopping centre, Meadowbank Shopping Centre, located at Gerard Way and St John’s Road.
The Purewa Cemetery, one of the largest central cemeteries in Auckland, is located in Meadowbank and is accessible from St John’s Road.
Meadowbank had a population of 5,328 and 1,947 households in the 2018 New Zealand census.
Waiatarua Reserve
Meadowbank is host to the Waiatarua Reserve, New Zealand’s largest urban wetland restoration project. The 20-hectare reserve was once a freshwater lake, but the landscape was transformed by the volcanic eruptions of Mount Wellington some 9000 years ago.
